Collect wet polishing slurry with a floor squeegee, a wet vacuum rated for slurry, or a dedicated slurry pump, then dispose of it as construction waste water rather than letting it run into storm drains. Never send concrete slurry into municipal drains untreated — the high pH and suspended solids are regulated in most regions and can earn you a heavy fine.
Slurry is a mix of water, cement fines, diamond grit dust and aggregate dust. Left to dry it turns into a cement-like film that is extremely hard to remove and damages floor burnishers, wheels and polishers. It also creates a slip hazard and can clog machines that are not sealed for wet use.
For pads that stand up to wet polishing work, look at our Diamond Resin Floor Polishing Pads and 3" Diamond Resin Floor Polishing Pads.
A: No. Slurry is high-pH waste water with suspended solids. Discharging it into drains without treatment typically violates local environmental rules.
A: It begins to set within a few hours in warm, dry conditions. Clean equipment and collection tools immediately after each job.
A: Yes. Standard shop vacuums are not sealed for liquids. Use a vacuum rated for wet pickup with a separate slurry tank, or a grinder with a built-in slurry shroud.
A: Both are regulated, but slurry is heavier and harder to clean once it dries. Dry dust needs a HEPA vacuum; wet slurry needs proper containment and disposal.
Plan slurry management before you start wet polishing: contain it, collect it, settle it and dispose of it by the rules. Do that and wet polishing stays fast, safe and compliant.
