Maintain polished concrete with daily dry cleaning (dust mopping or a vacuum with soft bristles), periodic damp mopping with a neutral pH cleaner, and a regular burnishing pass at 1500–2500 RPM to restore gloss. Skip wax and film-forming coatings — polished concrete is designed to be maintained by mechanical cleaning and burnishing, not by chemicals.
Gloss fades from foot traffic, not from the concrete losing its polish. Run a burnishing pad at 1500–2500 RPM on a burnisher or a single disc machine once a week on high-traffic floors, and once a month on lighter-traffic floors. Keep the pad clean and change it when it stops generating gloss. See our Burnishing Pads for Concrete Floor Polishing and Burnishing Pads with Resin Pucks for the right tooling.
A: Weekly on high-traffic retail or warehouse floors, monthly on office or residential floors. Re-burnish after deep cleaning or after heavy events.
A: No. Wax dulls the reflection, yellows over time and has to be chemically stripped. Mechanical burnishing replaces wax on polished concrete.
A: A neutral pH cleaner (7–9). Avoid acid, citrus, vinegar and ammonia-based products.
A: No — burnishing is an abrasive-polishing action on the already dense surface. It removes micro-scratches and restores gloss without removing concrete.
Polished concrete is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance: keep grit off it, clean with neutral pH products, and burnish on a schedule. That routine keeps the gloss for decades.
