For light dullness, re-burnish the floor with a white pad: clean it first, run a burnishing pass dry, and the gloss usually returns. For deeper wear, re-polish with 800-1500-3000 resin passes; for heavy scratching or staining, go back to 200-400 resin first. If the floor was never densified, apply densifier before re-polishing.
Test the floor in one corner before deciding the fix. Wash a section, dry it, and check under raking light. Light dullness (no visible scratches, just lost gloss) responds to burnishing. Visible scratches need a resin re-polish. Staining, pitting, or exposed aggregate needs a full re-polish from the metal phase. Choosing the level of restoration saves days of unnecessary work.
Vacuum and damp-mop the floor, let it dry completely, then burnish with a white or natural-hair pad on a floor buffer or burnisher. Work in overlapping passes at the machine's highest speed. A clean re-burnish restores gloss on floors that have simply lost their shine to traffic, cleaning chemicals, or residue. If the gloss does not return, move to Level 2.
For light scratches, re-polish with resin pads from 800 through 1500 and 3000, cleaning between steps. If the scratches are deeper, start at 200 or 400 resin to remove them, then step forward. Re-polishing refreshes the top layer and brings back the full gloss. Keep the pads clean; a dirty pad will re-introduce the scratches you are removing.
If the floor is pitted, stained, or has exposed aggregate, re-polish from the metal phase: 40-80 metal to flatten, 120-200 metal to refine, then resin through 3000. Apply densifier after 800 resin. This is essentially re-polishing the floor and restores it like new. Expect this to take as long as the original polish job.
A> With normal foot traffic, once or twice a year keeps the gloss up. Heavily trafficked floors may need it quarterly.
A> Wax hides dullness temporarily but must be stripped and reapplied. A proper re-burnish or re-polish is the durable fix.
A> Either it was never densified, or it is being cleaned with the wrong chemicals. Harsh cleaners strip the gloss; densifier and pH-neutral cleaners keep it.
Dull polished concrete is recoverable at three levels: burnish for light dullness, resin re-polish for scratches, and a full re-polish for damage. Assess first, restore at the right level, and maintain with densifier and neutral cleaners so the gloss stays.
