Average response time: under 24 hours

For floors over 1000 sqm, run 800-920 mm remote-controlled planetary grinders (not single-disc push-behind machines), fit 3-head tooling plates with matched metal-bond shoes such as Lavina-compatible bar segments, and pair each grinder with a 3-mode Hepa dust extractor. Plan on one grinder plus a crew of 3-4 for 300-500 sqm per day at the coarse grind stage, and double that rate at the resin polish stage. The biggest productivity killer is mismatched tooling - buy shoes in full machine sets so all three heads cut identically.
Below 500 sqm, a small 580 mm grinder works. Above 1000 sqm, every minute saved per square meter compounds. A 920 mm planetary machine covers roughly 2x the area of a 600 mm machine in the same time, with better flatness because the rotating heads cancel out walk-behind wobble. Remote control also lets the operator run two machines from one point.
Most large planetary machines take 3 discs. Buy all three shoes from the same production batch so bond hardness matches - mismatched shoes leave cross-hatch patterns. Start at 16/20 for coating removal, then 30/40, 60/80, and 150/180 metal. For soft concrete use hard bonds; for hard concrete use soft bonds. A 4-segment metal-bond disc per head is the workhorse for general-purpose large-floor grinding.
| Stage | Grit | Approx sqm/day |
|---|---|---|
| Coating removal | PCD | 200-300 |
| Coarse grind | 30/40 metal | 400-600 |
| Flatting | 80/100 metal | 500-700 |
| Transitional | 150/200 ceramic | 600-800 |
| Resin polish | 50-3000 resin | 800-1200 |
A productive large-floor crew is: one grinder operator, one vacuum/edge worker, one material runner, and a foreman who moves walk-behind vacuum hoses and tops off densifier. Each grinder needs its own Hepa vacuum with automatic filter shaker. Running two grinders on one vacuum starves both and leaves dust on the floor that scratches the resin stage.
For coating removal across a 1000 sqm floor, a full-PCD trapezoid disc per head strips epoxy twice as fast as bar segments; swap back to bar shoes once the coating is off.
A: Yes for flatness, no for redundancy. One 920 mm machine produces better floors than two 600 mm machines, but a breakdown stops the job. On 1000+ sqm, own or rent a backup.
A: Plan on 2-3 sets of metal-bond shoes per grit per 1000 sqm on average concrete; soft concrete wears them faster, hard concrete wears slower.
A: Above 1000 sqm, yes. Remote control reduces operator fatigue and lets one person run a 900 kg machine safely around columns.
Minimum 300 CFM per grinder, Hepa-rated, with automatic filter cleaning. Anything less leaves dust that scratches the resin stage.
Large floors reward size and consistency: 900 mm planetary grinders, matched 3-head shoe sets, dedicated vacuums, and a 4-person crew. Buy tooling in bulk, stage grit changes on the floor, and keep a backup machine. JOY TECH supplies matched trapezoid shoe sets for every major large-floor grinder brand; send us your machine model and concrete hardness for a full kit quote.
